This is a submod of my AI mod, Starnet. It also works with another AI mod of mine, Startech.
This mod was made before startech existed, and it will always remain compatible with both starnet and startech, but it works much better with startech since AI empires priorities will align the inability to declare wars.
By default, Skynet Starnet will to play as efficiently as possible which means it will exterminate all human lifeforms be very willing to attack weak neighbours. This is achieved by changing vanilla opinion modifiers, making it more wary of neighbours.
Furthermore, Starnet is trying to create humanlike behavior for AIs, with AIs ignoring threats at first, but banding together if somebody is growing too much. While stellaris diplomacy modding possibilities are very limited, it tries to create some sort of the «balance of power» system when snowballed empires get disliked and AIs are very likely to unite against them. Similarly cooperation (uniting against X) is very rewarded in the main mod.
Another diplomacy change of the main mod is preferences for tributaries. There are three reasons for it, first tributaries are overall more useful and second, the game never tells a player that he gets integrated thus causing a possibility for anticlimactic end of a playthrough. Three, tribute is the best stellaris way to simulate an empire paying for protection of the other empire, if anybody wants to have peaceful gameplay with the main mod they can ask any strong neighbour to become an overlord and get their protection in exchange for taxes. This can’t work with vassalage ( overlord may decide to integrate which isn’t what you wanted when signing the protection treaty).
This patch is for people who don’t like my changes and prefer the way vanilla handles them.
What does this mod do
Reverts most of opinion modifiers back to vanilla (so the ethic-based opinion modifiers are higher and rivalry-based, threat-based and border-based are lower than in starnet).
Cooperation levels are also reverted back to vanilla, so (compared to starnet without the patch) AI will be less likely to ally against common threats/common rivals, common threat generation is much lower and AI is less likely to unite against the crisis. AI diplomatic behaviour will be the same as vanilla-like in those regards as well, this includes crisis, so don’t be surprised if the AIs won’t try to cooperate against it.
Also the mod changes back the personality preferences, starnet favours tributaries, with this mod AI will be favouring vassals just like in vanilla. Be very careful, this means that if you become a subject AI may integrate you, look out for it.
Will it decrease the difficulty
As of 3.0. I think there is not much difficulty difference between mods, it depends what galaxies do you enjoy more, dependent on rivalry webs and changing or static and depending on ethics. In some cases the difficulty can even be harder (AI is more likely to help against the crisis or large genocidal empire without this mod).
This mod is more suited for people who
Want to see AI be able to stand for itself and expand at least a little bit Want to have some exclusively peaceful experience without paying for protection Enjoy vanilla diplomacy Don’t like Starnet’s large scale endgame federation wars and attempts to pile up on a snowballed assimilator but like its approach to industry and military. Want to have the convenience of never being attacked by non-genocidals. In these cases feel free to try installing this mod, AI economy management will still be better (and they will fight khan/fallen empires/crisises better, same way Starnet does), AI will be less reactive to common threats and any AI can is very likely to protect you for free once befriended.
Otherwise personally I think the game is better if you do not use this mod (and use the main mod instead). It will be more engaging, more punishing and more realistic. In the main mod you will learn to care about every single your ally and really work together to bring your enemies down, here you can press the envoy button to solve any your diplomatic problems and befriend anyone at will.
How to install and use this
Install the main AI mod, Starnet AI or Startech and this mod, launch them together.
Will it make the game simpler
Obviously, especially if you don’t use startech. The strategic asymmetry of AI never willing to attack the human and human being able to attack them at any point makes it impossible for AI to serve as a threat.

Мод должен появиться в лаунчере игры во вкладке моды – остается только активировать его.
